A few years ago, several people in our congregation participated in the series of Reparations sessions led by Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light, and met after each session to discuss how we could incorporate reparations into our work as a church. To move forward, we must first learn about and acknowledge what role our church played historically in supporting racism in Prospect Park, make atonements, and openly commit to a new direction.
We will begin this work by watching “Jim Crow of the North” after worship on Sunday, February 23 while we eat turkey wild rice soup and any other food that shows up – please feel free to bring a dish to share. We will have questions to guide conversations after the film and wrap up by 12:40pm.
If you’re not able to attend, the film is available to view for free on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWQfDbbQv9E
