For our November concert in the Community Concert Series, we welcome back the Friends of Arthur Maud on Saturday, November 9 at 7:00pm! Join us for a program of music composed by Arthur Maud, ranging from songs of medieval France to chamber music for piano to 20th century art songs. A freewill offering will benefit Southeast Seniors.
ABOUT THE COMPOSER AND PERFORMERS
Born and raised in Airedale, the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, Arthur Maud studied singing at an early age and was chorister and soloist in local churches until the family emigrated to the USA in 1948. He has studied composition in Germany (Hochschule Für Musik, Munich 1956-7) and America with Dominic Argento, Paul Fetler, Harold Genzmer, Carl Orff, Leroy Robertson, Leo Sowerby, and others.
He composed Sinfonia concertante for Organ and Orchestra for the PhD at the University of Minnesota in 1977. As Director of Concentus Musicus Minnesota he prepared and directed more than twenty years of concert seasons for its vocal and early music ensembles and produced nine recordings… Three with international labels.
The Friends of Arthur Maud include Krista Palmquist, vocalist; Evan Shallcross, violin; Charles Asch, cello; and Mary Goetz, piano.
ABOUT THE BENEFICIARY
Southeast Seniors is a neighborhood nonprofit organization founded in 1988 that coordinates services to help people 65 and older live well at home in Southeast Minneapolis. Southeast Seniors bills Medicare and other insurance companies for in-home nursing services. A sliding fee scale is used to benefit clients. Services such as grocery delivery, Lifeline, meals and chore services are coordinated to help older adults live well at home.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY CONCERT SERIES
Over the past decade+, the Prospect Park United Methodist Church Community Concert Series has contributed over $80,000 to a variety of community service programs and organizations across the Twin Cities. It’s a perfect combination – enjoying great music and raising money for a worthwhile cause! A delicious snack buffet follows the concert.
PPUMC is located at 22 Orlin Ave SE in Minneapolis, at the foot of the historic Prospect Park Water Tower, one block south of University Ave on Malcolm Ave and adjacent to the Metro Transit Green Line. Free parking is available on-street and at Pratt Community School.
